Toowoomba Toyota for the second time is the major sponsor of the Rotary Club of Toowoomba East Inc. Outback Getaway community fundraising event.
With 24 Years of success in 12 Outback Getaway events, at least $800,000 has been raised by in support of rural and regional communities and charities.
Toowoomba Toyota Dealer Principal, Rotarian Brett Motton says he is very proud to support the community through this Rotary fundraising event.
These include the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Angel Flight, Rotary District 9630 Drought Relief Program, The Toowoomba Hospital Renal Unit, Myall Park Botanical Gardens, Emmaville Central School breakfast for students program, The Toowoomba Hospice, The Toowoomba Flexi School, The Cancer Council, Life Flight (formerly Care Flight), Toowoomba Older Men’s Network (TOMnet), Polio Plus (Rotary International’s world wide Polio eradication program) and Mental Health programs e.g. Australian Rotary Health and Black Dog Institute.
Outback Getaway (OBG) is a fully managed and catered outback four-wheel drive vehicle (4WD) ‘tag along’ style eight day adventure conducted by The Rotary Club of Toowoomba East Inc. (RCTE). OBG has been successfully held every two years since 1997 and has strong appeal to those participants wishing to enjoy an Outback experience not normally available to the general public in a fully organised and supported environment.
In 2022 The Rotary Club is conducting OBG between 7 and 15 May 2022, with 67 participants in 32 vehicles. The event will travel through the western side of the Great Dividing Range from Toowoomba to Northern Queensland (Undara National Park – Lava Tubes) then back inland via Hughenden, Barcaldine and Charleville.
For this OBG the beneficiaries, which are Toowoomba based will be Emerge Youth Services (Support and training for disadvantaged young people), Base Services (Backpack beds for the homeless) and Blush Cancer Care (Post treatment care packages).
